Lasers have been used for unwanted hair removal for years. Now,
with the advent of new technology, we have lasers that target the
pigment located inside the hair follicle and utilize a special contact
cooling hand piece to protect and cool the skin, allowing safe treatment
of all skin colors.
Pre-treatment information:
- Sun protection is very important before, during and after laser
hair removal. Recently sun tanned skin should not be treated.
Self-tanning creams should also be avoided at least 1 week prior to
treatment.
- You should avoid bleaching, plucking, electrolysis or waxing hair
for several weeks prior to treatment. It is recommended that you shave
the area to be treated 2 days prior to laser hair removal. You may
shave between treatments.
- You may be asked to stop certain topical medications such as
retin-A or skin care products with glycolic or salycilic acid 3 - 5
days prior to treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores or the herpes virus, a
prophylactic antiviral medication may be prescribed for you to prevent
a breakout.
